Up-date on my Dad

I just wanted to send out this email that my mom sent out. I found it very encouraging.

"I have a few minutes on a computer, so Iwanted to pass on an update. Dale had a few rough days, as Holly's emails showed, but the doctor figured out that he had takenDale off steroids, and so he put him back on them, and Dale immediately perked back up. He's no longer having trouble eating, or keeping his food down. His chest has cleared, so he's doing great. Dale even thinks the tumor has started shrinking, because of how his throat feels, and the food he can now eat! The one area that has caused him some trouble recently, is sleeping, (a side effect of the steroids we're told). They fix one thing and then have to see if that affects other areas! They'll give him a sleep aid, to seeif that will help. Dale continues to keep his eyes on the Lord, knowing He is sovereignly controling all things. He has not lost his humor, which is a great encouragement to me, and a lot of fun (?) for the nurses!

His big outing Monday through Friday is to go to radiology for his treatments with the EMT's. He now has gotten permission to get some fresh air by the rose gardens when he can be accompanied by someone. Dale has his second chemo treatment on Monday. We're hoping that it goes smoothly with few side effects, so Dale can get discharged from the hospital, possibly by Tuesday or Wednesday. As Holly has told you, we have a place to stay near the hospital. Our biggest concern is that it will be cool enough, since the temps have been the high 80's and 90's and soon to be in the100's. Believe it or not, Dale's running as hot as me, if not hotter! (he's not even going through menopause!) His room at the hospital has been around 6o degrees, and that seems to be comfortable to him. Dale's not quite half way, he has 22 more radiation treatments and two more chemo treatments to go. But most importantly, his faith in his Redeemer and Lord have not waivered. We can notbegin to express our love and appreciation to our family at MBC, for all your support during this time. Thank you for the calls, cards, and emails, they have been such a blessing and encouragement to us. The many prayers spoken before the throne of grace, on our behalf, have sustained us as we look to the "lifter of our heads", and His sufficient grace, taking one day at a time. Dale and I can't put into words how touched and moved we were to receive the photo album and gift. Knowing what a sacrifice it was, made it an even sweeter demonstration of your love and support for us. Thank you with all our hearts. Above all else, may God be glorified by your example of loving the brethern in word and deed, and bearing our burdens. He continues to do above and beyond what we could possibly ask or think.

We covet your continued prayers, for the Lord's complete healing of Dale's cancer, continued wisdom for the doctors, and joy in this trial. We still have no word from Medi-Cal, about whether we will qualify or not, your prayers are much appreciated. Holly has been so wonderful as she has been working so hard to get all the paper work turned in. Please pray for her, also, since she tries to make a trip to Chico at least once a week to bring us mail from home, and on some trips, Dale's "little ray of sunshine....Evan"! I'm sorry this is so long, it just seems like months since I last saw and talked with all of you.I thank my God upon every remembrance of you...... With love, Jo for both of us"

Up-date on Dad

I just wanted to send out an up-date on my dad. Dad had a couple of really great days and the doctors thought he could go home. However, now they think he has a chest infection and he's no longer tolerating food. He's regaining his muscle strength but he gets exhausted very quickly. Please pray that the Lord will continue to sustain Dad and Mom and that the cause of the food intolerance as well as the chest infection will be known quickly in order to treat them. If you'd like to send a card or talk to my Dad, you can send me an email and I'll get you the address.
Thank you all for your love and support and prayers.

New Pictures of the fam

Audrey loves to climb on Lucas' weights and this morning she got stuck and couldn't get out without help. It was rather funny!

So she decided to just suck her trigger finger and hold on to her blanket.

After church on Mother's Day.

Mother's Day and 24 weeks (though I feel like 48 weeks)!!
Audrey loves to play with Lucas' badge on his uniform and pull out the pens and camera in his pockets.

Up-dates on my family

Hi everyone, I just wanted to give an up-date on my dad. Dad is still at the Enloe Hospital in Chico. Dad's having a rough time of it right now. Dad spent most of the night battling horrible pain which kept him from sleeping much at all. On top of the post-chemo aches, he feels like he's getting gout so the doctor increased his IV fluids to try to counter act it. He was able to go for radiation today which is a good thing. Please be praying that the pain will subside and that he won't get gout. Please also pray for Mom that the Lord will continue to strengthen her so she can support Dad and keep his spirits up and also that dad would be able to take in more nutrition through the feeding tube.
Thank you so much for your continued love, prayers, and encouragement.

I also wanted to put it out there for anyone. Lizzie Klier has a caring bridge blog that you can keep up with how she's doing, as well as pictures of her and the boys.

Turkey Hunting

Lucas' first turkey of the season.

Lucas' second turkey of the season.

Audrey and I reading in the blind. Waiting for some turkeys.

Well... Let's just say that it's not an easy thing to turkey hunt with Audrey. We tried hunting two different days and I didn't get anything. Audrey is just to noisy for turkey hunting. Oh well... I'll try again another year. Both of Lucas' turkey's were shot without Audrey with him.
