Convicting and Encouraging Sunday

I know that I normally don't write a lot on my blog, but today I was convicted and encouraged all at once, so I would like to pass on what God taught me.

Our church Christ Church Missoula, had the privilege and blessing of having R.C. Sproul Jr. preach. What a godly, gracious, humble and funny man. His text was, John 13:1-20, the story of Christ washing the feet of the disciples. I was reminded what a demeaning, disgusting job that was and yet here was our Lord and Savior down on the knees washing the filth off his men's feet. He even washed the feet of the one who was to betray Him. I was so convicted of my lack of joy when I serve my family in the everyday life. Here all I've wanted my whole life was to be a wife and mother and then God blesses me with a wonderful husband that loves me unconditionally and two beautiful, healthy daughters that I love to pieces and yet I find myself dreading and grumbling about different day to day jobs. They don't even begin to be as demeaning as our Savior washing His disciple's feet. Not to mention being beaten and hung naked on a cross for my sin.

I thank God daily that He never gives up on us, even when we struggle and sin and fall flat on our faces. Though I think that is a good place to be, so that His strength is what makes us strong.

Thanks Cola for sharing this. I too have been complaining about some of the "mundain" things that I have to do at home. Thank you for reminding me that even in the boring things I need to glorify Him. I love you!

Thanks for sharing that, Nicola. And you do such a good job of keeping your site decorated as well. Always fun to go look.
